URTA and Black Lives

As our nation expresses an extraordinary outpouring of support for redress of injustice, reform of systemic inequality, and recognition of the threats faced by Black Americans, URTA wishes to state that we stand in solidarity with these values.

As an organization, and as part of the larger fields of education and the arts, we challenge ourselves to find ways in which we can help to create and sustain positive change. We have far to go.

In no way do we intend this statement to center our organization or eclipse the voices and struggles of Black theatre artists and institutions. We simply state: We are here, in unity. Because we do not believe that it should go without saying.
