Don’t Miss These Great Events at SETC 2018!

Are you attending SETC in Alabama, March 7-11? URTA will be there! Don’t miss these valuable panels, featuring professional faculty from URTA member universities!

Life After Undergrad
Date: Thursday (3/8), 8:00AM-8:50AM
Location: Battle House Hotel Tree House

Panelists:
Sara Ross, URTA (moderator)
John Wolf, Wayne State University
Kyla Kazuschyk, Louisiana State University
Lara Berich, Ohio University

Early career professionals need a wide range of skills to be prepared for a sustainable career as an artist. Undergrads should be developing these skills before graduation, and working with their faculty to decide on what steps they’ll be taking once they leave school.

Life After Undergrad will explore what students need in order to be ready for a post-grad professional life. Panelists will discuss how undergraduate faculty can work with their students to build a curriculum that aligns with student success after graduation by identifying best practices of mentorship, becoming familiar with new career paths in the industry, and widening students’ focus prior to graduation. Other topics covered will include internships, graduate school, continued professional development, and networking. The panel is open to faculty and students.

Navigating Next Steps in Design/Technology Careers

Panelists will share their thoughts and answer questions on areas including MFA training, the wide choices of careers in theatrical design and technology, advice for early career professionals, and how to build strong foundational skills that allow for shifting career focus over time. Anyone interested in design and technology is encouraged to attend!
