Why did you choose University of North Carolina’s MFA program?

I chose UNC’S MFA program because of the people. Outside of the professional benefits like working on professional productions with working professional directors & guest actors and getting your equity card before you graduate, which are beautiful perks. I found that it was the people that was most alluring. Everyone that is here loves what they do and they all want to be here, the environment in the building is a healthy one where everyone here WANTS to see you succeed.

What is your favorite production you have worked on so far? Why was it your favorite?

At this point of my time here the most influential play I’ve done has been “We are Proud to Present..”. This play touches on struggles of race relations and how to tell the story of those who have been oppressed. Being a 25 year old black male, this play came at a time when I was, and still am, realizing my place in this world as a man of color and it says things that I had always felt but never knew how to put into words. It empowered me and my sense of being. Not to mention the effect it had on those that watched, I received reactions from that show that I will never forget.

Where do you like to go out in Chapel Hill?

There are some places out here that are great for food: IP3 Pizza – this is the best pizza that I have ever had, fresh ingredients and a great atmosphere.

Dames Chicken & Waffles – This place CHANGES LIVES!!!! It’s in Durham which is about a 15-18 minute drive but it’s worth it!!!

Chapel Hill has a great bar scene, about a 1-2 mile street of great bars, breweries, and wine lounges.
And there’s nothing like a UNC Basketball game!!! Especially vs. Duke!!
