Featuring: Jason Jamerson (MFA set design graduate student)

What is campus life like at Arizona?
UofA is very artsy and eclectic, and it’s easy to find a home here. Tucson has tons of great places to meet up with friends and see music or art performances or get something incredible to eat. We were just selected by UNESCO as a top world food city!

What is your favorite production you have worked on so far?
My favorite production so far has to be my upcoming set design for Proof, by David Auburn. At UofA students are encouraged to take the time to focus on the process, with the best support from faculty and their peers every step of the way. The production schedule is carefully laid out, with time for creativity and collaboration just where it should be.

What made you want to attend University of Arizona’s MFA?
After freelancing and teaching design in NYC for 11 years, Arizona was one of my top choices for grad school. They have a strong, active program with a successful regional theatre company in-house. When I contacted them about applying, I spoke over the phone and in Skype interviews with all of my professors. They were sincerely interested in my work, and wanted to know what my goals were for grad school. I could tell they had a great balance between striving for a kindness oriented, low-stress community, and focusing on hard work and being serious about professional theatre.

Send us a photo of a place you like to go near the campus!
Enjoying the sun at the Arizona-Sonara Desert Museum, the world’s largest museum, named the #9 Museum in America by TripAdvisor.
