URTA DESIGNER SHOWCASE

AT LDI SHOW December 8, 2024

This one-day event at the LDI show in Las Vegas, NV offers a unique opportunity for designers and technicians to present their work and network with potential graduate school recruiters and employers!

The showcase will be particularly valuable for current students (undergrad and grad), as well as early-career designers and technicians. The showcase compliments other LDI programming, including the Design Portfolio Review (Saturday) where designers can receive professional feedback on their presentations ahead of the URTA showcase.

There is no additional fee to take part in the URTA Showcase, however you must be registered for the LDI Show in order to participate. All pre-registered participants in the URTA Designer Showcase will receive a discount code to redeem for a free LDI expo hall pass. For those wishing to purchase passes to the full conference programming, LDI offers highly reduced registration for young career professionals (see ldishow.com for details).

Whether you’re hiring, recruiting, looking to meet new talent, or just network and connect, we invite you to join us at the URTA Designer & Technician Showcase at LDI. The showcase is free to all LDI attendees and will take place in the Association Lounge in the LDI expo hall. Showcase Information – FAQs

The URTA Designer and Technician Showcase will take place on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the LDI show in Las Vegas. The showcase will run from 10 am – 5 pm in the Association Lounge in the LDI Expo Hall.

Any designers or technicians that wish to display their portfolios and connect with potential graduate school recruiters and employers are eligible to register for a space at the showcase. The showcase will be particularly beneficial to early-career designers and technicians, including students and recent graduates. There are no age restrictions on participation.

The showcase will be located in the Association Lounge in the LDI Expo Hall and is open to all LDI attendees to visit. Creating an open and accessible showcase for all LDI attendees fosters connection and networking between the emerging designers and technicians showcasing their work and the larger live entertainment community. The showcase will be particularly useful to potential employers and graduate school recruiters looking to connect with talented early-career professionals.

Designers and technicians who wish to display their work at the showcase are strongly encouraged to pre-register HERE to reserve their space at the showcase. Pre-registration closed on November 22, 2024. Walk-in participants may take part in the showcase if space allows (click the pre-registration link above for walk-in info).

On the morning of the showcase (Dec. 8, 2024) participants will be given table space to set-up and display their portfolios. These portfolio displays may be physical displays (photos, models, sketches, diagrams, etc.) and/or digital displays on a laptop or other device. Individuals are also encouraged to have copies of their resume available to share.

Portfolio displays should remain set-up for the full length of the showcase (10 am – 5 pm), and the designers and technicians are encouraged to be present at their display for as much time as they are able during the day in order to connect with the industry professionals that visit the showcase.

Designers and technicians that have signed up to showcase their work will be given half of a banquet table to display their portfolio. Each individual’s table space will measure roughly 4 ft. x 18 in. The table will be bare (no table cloth) and will have access to power (showcase participants should bring extension cords/power strips if they will need power). There will also be a chair provided for the participant, as they are encouraged to be at their portfolio display for as much time as possible during the showcase (10 am – 5 pm).

Showcase participants will have roughly 4 ft. x 18 in. of table space to display their portfolio materials. These tables will be bare (no table cloth), but participants are welcome to bring their own table covering.

Within their table space, individuals may exhibit their portfolio in any number of ways, both physically and/or digitally. Physical displays might include free-standing portfolio displays, models, photo albums, sketches, diagrams, etc. Participants may also display their work digitally on a laptop or other device. Power access will be available, but participants should bring extension cords/power strips if needed. WiFi will NOT be available, so any digital displays should be downloaded to their device in advance.

Tables will not be against a wall, so any physical displays should be free-standing on the table. Individuals should bring any necessary assembly materials they will require (display boards, tape, clips, pins, etc.)

Individuals are also encouraged to have copies of their resume available to share, as well as business cards or other ways to collect and share contact information.
