URTA CANDIDATE AWARDS
URTA Candidate Awards offer candidates in selected areas of study free registration for the URTAs and free admission to our Continuing Education events. URTA currently offers the Candidate Award in two areas:
The Candidate Award in Sound Design
Sound design is a growing artistic field that offers employment prospects beyond the theatrical stage. Professionally trained designers are working in concerts, opera, film and television, music producing, and video games.
Students with a background in music (including composition and engineering), film editing, and production may already possess native skills used by sound designers–professional MFA training can be the capstone that positions them for a career in sound design.
The Candidate Award in Arts Leadership
Seeking to broaden the pool of MFA candidates in this diverse area, eventually supplying a larger and more diverse group of trained professionals to this critical field, the Candidate Award in Arts Leadership is offered to candidates in Producing/Theatre Management–an area encompassing a wide range of focuses, including arts administration, entrepreneurship, production management, business management, and institutional leadership.
