San Francisco theatre company will sponsor retirement benefit for employees.

URTA is excited to announce San Francisco’s Cutting Ball Theatre will join the URTA Umbrella Retirement Program as a plan sponsor. Cutting Ball professional staff will now enjoy access to a centralized, well-curated retirement planning platform, including 401(k) options.

Developed by URTA to educate and empower arts professionals to attain financial security, the URTA Umbrella brings together industry leading advisors, investment managers, and administrators to create a comprehensive retirement plan.

“We’re out to dispel the notion of the ‘starving artist’,” explained URTA Executive Director Scott L. Steele, “The addition of Cutting Ball as a new sponsor will serve to strengthen the plan for all participating organizations. It’s very exciting.”

Under the URTA Umbrella, arts organizations that wouldn’t otherwise be able to offer retirement savings options to their staff, can do so. Employees of participating institutions enjoy a full suite of benefits aimed at helping them achieve their financial goals and retirement on their terms.

They have access to valuable financial education, from live seminars to exclusive podcasts and monthly email commentaries, equipping them with the education and knowledge to become more informed financial consumers. Participants are even able to meet one-on-one with their financial advisors to discuss issues from budgeting, savings and investments, and other financial matters.

A financial coaching subscription service is available for those who want an ongoing relationship with their financial advisor, to work with them on everything from goal setting to debt reduction.

Participants are able to view, update, and manage their investments from an online portal and mobile app.

The Teplitz Financial Group serves as plan’s advisor, with Vestwell Inc. as the 3(16) fiduciary record keeper.

The Cutting Ball Theater was founded in 1999 by theater artists Rob Melrose and Paige Rogers. Since its first presentation in the San Francisco Fringe Festival, Cutting Ball’s output has grown steadily. It now presents a four-play season in residence at EXIT on Taylor conveniently located just two blocks from the Powell Street BART.
